MOOCs by edX 

Created by Harvard and MIT, edX is a US behemoth of a platform for MOOCs – that’s Massive Open Online Courses for the uninitiated. It is run as a nonprofit, providing free online “micro-bachelors” and “micro-masters” courses from some of the world’s top universities. There are over 3000 courses available, ranging from Computer Programming to Conversational English Skills.

MOOCs by Coursera

Like edX, Coursera offers a diverse range of courses – over 7000 at the last count. While they are very similar in structure, with different universities running courses through the platforms and issuing their own certifications on completion, Coursera courses are more targeted at professional training, whereas edX is slightly more academic.
