ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Carla Martinesi is Hong Kong born, but she spent much of her childhood growing up in the Alpine mountains thanks to her half-Swiss heritage. She credits her upbringing with instilling in her a deep love of nature and sustainability, as well as an international child’s innate ability to engage with different cultures. After graduating with a degree in Hospitality, she spent some time working in several F&B roles, including restaurants and hotels.

In 2020, she combined her passions to create CHOMP, an inspired app that connects F&B businesses directly to customers at home, providing a sustainable way the the industry to use up unwanted food that would otherwise go to waste. During its first three years of operation, it saved over 20,000kg of food from ending up in landfill, and since then her ambition has only expanded. Today, CHOMP partners with over 250 F&B outlets, from small independent coffee shops to international 5-star hotel chains. Carla is a tireless advocate for the importance of tackling the global crisis of food waste, frequently engaging in public speaking events as well as hosting the popular The Rescued Feast.
